Use eNstructor

2 minutes guide for the first visitors

Everyone uses different resolutions and settings on their computers, it all depends on their own personal preferences. However, before using eNstructor for the first time, you can set some basic settings to optimize your results. Plese refer to eNstructor manual for this basic settings.
After installing eNstructor, double click the eNstructor icon to run eNstructor.
You will see a Start eNstructor dialog box.

If you want to place pictures in Clipart or Image Panel to easily access them during the recording, copy all the pictures into Clipart or Image folders. (If you installed eNstructor on your C drive, it will be C:\Program Files\eNstructor\Clipart or Images) These pictures will be displayed in thumbnail view on the Clipart Panel or the Image panel .

Click Start eNstructor to start!
If you do not have tablet installed on your system, you will see a dialog saying eNstructor could not detect tablet. If you have this dialog even though you have tablet connected into your computer, check to see if the tablet driver is properly installed.

This illustrates the eNstructor screen without any Work Areas added. It is always good to prepare well in advance before recording, because we all know how tedious it is to re-record if you make a mistake. If you are recording a long lesson, make a scenario, and place all the graphic and text files into the Clip art panel to minimize time and effort.

In this lesson we are making a short movie, but this tutorial will cover: importing a document, recording and exporting.
At the bottom of the screen, you will see a long toolbar, this is called the Standard Toolbar. This toolbar contains the most commonly used tools.

To add additional toolbars, right click on the margin area and select the toolbar you want displayed. The first thing you have to do is to add a Work Area; there are number of ways to add a Work Area. We will import a web site in this tutorial.

Importing a Web site
Click on the arrowhead icon beside import button, and select Import Web Document

You will see the Import Web Page window. Type the URL you wish to import. In this lesson, we will import the Yahoo web page. Let's type www.yahoo.com and click the Move button. If the web page is fully loaded, click the Import button.

Now we have successfully added a Work Area

Now we will open the Clipart Panel, Image panel and Zoom/Scroll Toolbar. Again, the Clipart Panel and the Image Panel will help you save a lot of time and effort producing eNstructor movies. All the images and text you need can be added to your Work Area by dragging & Dropping it.

Let's click the Toolbar/Window button and select the Clipart Panel, the Image Panel and the Zoom/Scroll Toolbar one after another.

Once you have these Panels and Toolbar displayed, we can begin recording.
Let's click Record button from the Standard Toolbar.

You will have a Recording Setup dialog box with 3 different recording options.

For these recording options, please refer to eNstructor Manual. Select eNstructor Mode for now and Click OK to begin recording.

Select the Pen Tool from the Standard Toolbar.

Let's write or draw something on the Work Area. You can select other drawing tools like the Brush or Highlighter. If you want to stop recording, click the Stop button located in the Standard Toolbar.

From the File Properties Setup box, enter relevant information

Since having various file formats is crucial for e-learning courses, eNstructor will allow you to export eNstructor movie files into several formats. These file formats are covered in eNstructor Manual. We will export this file into an AVI format in this tutorial.

After saving the file, click the Menu Button located in the Standard Toolbar > Export To > AVI Format.

You will be asked to save the file. That's it! It's that easy!

In this tutorial, we successfully produced an AVI file from a web site. For more advanced features of eNstructor, visit our download page to download eNstructor manual.
