To provide interactive Streaming Service, it requires an ASI player to be installed into the viewer’s system. In order to properly support interactive features of your file, second file containing interactive instructions of your file must be created. When files are converted from normal WinCAM files to ASF files, conversion process automatically creates required interactive event instruction on ASI file.
These streaming file conversions only available with WinCAM’s Multimedia Interactive Service Edition and Distance Learning Edition only. RM and MOV files don’t support this Interactive Feature. |

There are 2 Streams to this configuration. One is for the Video and the other is for the Audio. First, choose the video compression stream by selecting Video Data from the drop down list and click Options.
From Video compression dialog box, select WinCAM Video CODEC from the drop down menu. (This WinCAM Video CODEC will only appear on WinCAM SE and DLE. Click OK button to close this dialog box. Click OK one more time in Compression Options dialog box to close.
If you are using WinCAM 2000 Professional which doesn't come with WinCAM video Codec, generally, CODECs from Microsoft MPEG 4 Ver. 2 and CODECs called DIVX are recommended. Media player 6.4 or higher version is required to utilize the Microsoft CODECs. And please note that on some of the CODECs, there are extra options you can select by clicking on Configure. Keep in mind that in order for others to view the movie files you created and compressed, they must also have the same CODECs installed in their systems. |

Item |
Description |
Adjust Screen Size |
The screen size can be modified to 50%, 75% and 100% of the original size. You can reduce the file size by converting to a smaller size from the original, but generally, set the screen size to match the original. |
Custom Save Sound file |
The sound effects, background music and narration files generally make the entire file size larger, to help reduce the file size; the sounds can be saved separately from the actual file. |
256 Color 8 Bit |
In order to reduce the entire file size, check off this box. Unless you require using high-resolution color, use this option to reduce the file size. |
Merge Sound |
This option combines all the separate sounds, background music, and narration into one single sound file. |
Convert to EXE File |
This feature allows you to create a self-executable file *.exe, which can be played without any other players or programs. |
Compression Sound |
The original sound file is compressed to less than 1 /10 of the original file. However, the quality is somewhat lost. |
Save Font Image
|
This feature allows for the fonts and styles of the file to be kept intact, otherwise, on systems without the same fonts, text will appear distorted. When creating a distributable EXE file, ensure to enable this option. |
|
| |
6-3. SWF File
|
| |
Select "Convert File to SWF" menu in order to convert the WinCAM movie file into SWF (Flash movie) format. It is highly recommended that you set your screen resolution and color quality down to16 bit and lower resolution as low as possible. Due to Flash files' attribute, it is also recommended to make movie less than 10 minutes. |
| |
| 6-4 ASF FIle |
| |
These file formats are used for broadcasting movies over the Internet. |
WinCAMs’ own proprietary *.wcm file format can be converted to an *.asf file format to provide and support Streaming Services over a network. Although WinCAM does not have its’ own built in Streaming Service support, conversion to Microsoft’s ASF file format provides more compatibility and stability. To convert a file, from the File menu, select Convert File to ASF and a dialog box will appear. As explained in the AVI conversion above, the required options can be selected to customize your conversion.
To provide interactive mode of Streaming Service requires an ASI player to be installed on the viewers’ system. In order to properly support the interactive features of your file, a second file containing the interactive instructions of your file must be created. When files are converted from a normal WinCAM file *.wcm to an *.asf file, the conversion process automatically creates the required interactive event instruction on ASI file as well. |
